This policy explains what information DigiAdds collects, why, and how we look after it, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
DigiAdds ("we", "us") runs digiadds.co.uk and is the data controller for the information described in this policy. Contact: hello@digiadds.co.uk.
How DigiAdds works
Local businesses sponsor DigiAdds by providing gifts or funding products. DigiAdds adds the sponsor's details to each gift and sends it to members free of charge.
What DigiAdds collects
Joining DigiAdds is completely optional. You can browse the site without an account, and you can leave at any time by deleting your account from My account.
- Members: name, email, WhatsApp number, delivery address (house number, street, town, postcode) and the district, county and region of that postcode. Year of birth and gender are stored only if you choose to give them, and are used to tailor sponsor offers to our community. DigiAdds also stores whether your address is permanent or temporary, and the approximate location of your postcode (such as its ward and area). DigiAdds also records whether someone referred you and which welcome tasks you've completed.
- Newsletter subscribers: email address.
- Businesses interested in sponsoring: name, business name, email, phone, website and any message you send us.
- Everyone: basic analytics such as pages viewed and downloads.
How DigiAdds uses it, and why
- To post you free gifts and let you know when something is on the way. The legal basis is contract.
- To send you offers and gift news by WhatsApp, SMS/text, email or post, using only the channels you ticked. The legal basis is consent, and you can change your choices at any time from My account.
- To send gifts to members in the areas a sponsor has chosen, using your postcode. The legal basis is contract.
- To send only one gift per household, using your postcode and house number, so every home gets a fair share. The legal basis is legitimate interests.
- To send the newsletter. The legal basis is consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To reply to sponsorship enquiries and credit referrals. The legal basis is legitimate interests.
Who DigiAdds shares it with
DigiAdds does not share any of your data with sponsors, and never sells it. DigiAdds prepares and posts all gifts itself.
These providers process data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase, for hosting, login and our database (stored in London)
- WhatsApp and our SMS provider, for messages you've opted in to
- postcodes.io, which receives only your postcode
- Microsoft Clarity and Histats, for site analytics
- Our email and form services
Where any of these providers handle data outside the UK, approved safeguards apply.
How long DigiAdds keeps it
- Members: while your account is open. Deleting your account deletes your data.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
- Sponsorship enquiries: up to 24 months after our last contact.
Cookies and analytics
DigiAdds uses essential browser storage to keep you logged in. This is needed for the site to work.
DigiAdds also uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use the site, for example which pages are visited, where people click and how far they scroll. Clarity uses cookies and records how you interact with pages, but hides anything you type into forms. Microsoft processes this data on our behalf. You can read more in the Microsoft privacy statement.
DigiAdds also uses Histats to count visits and see basic traffic figures, such as page views, visitor numbers and the country and browser visitors use. Histats uses cookies to do this.
DigiAdds uses no advertising trackers.
Age
DigiAdds is for people aged 18 and over.
Your rights
You can see, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your data, and get a copy of it. You can edit your details or delete your account yourself from My account. For anything else, email hello@digiadds.co.uk and DigiAdds will respond within one month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
